What Miss J Has to Say
We’ve certainly been busy during the month of April, and May won’t be any different! Grades 3-8 have been completing ILEARN testing for math, reading, science and social studies. Grandparents Day, April 24 was a huge success (with 114 for preschool and 396 for K-8), our Junior Choir (6th-8th graders) went on a choir tour to Chicago, classes are taking field trips, a talent show is coming, and we are loving recess with the warmer weather! Our character trait for the month of April is Joy: Choosing to celebrate what God is doing. Our school daily devotions have helped us realize that even when we experience pain and sadness, we ultimately still have joy in knowing God is always with us and we have the gift of eternal life because of Jesus’ death and resurrection!
Happy Retirement
Mrs. Michelle Koehlinger has announced her retirement following the end of this school year. She has faithfully served at Holy Cross for 29 years, and has been in Lutheran education for over 40 years! Her caring heart and desire to help kids be successful will certainly be missed. We wish Mrs. Koehlinger the best as she moves into this next chapter of her life.
Staff Updates
Mrs. Kelli Leighty is going to move into Kindergarten for the 26-27 school year. She has served in a variety of roles over her time at Holy Cross and we are thankful for her nurturing and loving presence in the building!
Mrs. Ember Swing and her husband Caleb will be moving to South Carolina over the summer as her husband will begin a new residency there for the next three years. It is very sad to see her go, but we are excited for their family as they begin this new adventure!
Mrs. Amber Faus has announced that she will not be returning to the classroom next year. We wish her well and will certainly miss her in the building!
Our current open positions for the 26-27 school year are in 3rd Grade, 4th Grade and music (K-5, band, choir). We are actively interviewing candidates, so if you know of a candidate, please have them contact Miss Johnson.
