Retirement of Pr. Don Henry

Join us on Sunday, June 8 at 9:00 AM for a special worship service to honor Pastor Don Henry as he celebrates his retirement after 43 years of dedicated service to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A reception will follow the service.

Pastor Don Henry was born and raised in Washington, Pennsylvania. After moving to Indiana in 1964 to attend Vincennes University, he later studied sociology and social work at Indiana State University. In 1987, Don helped launch WLAB-FM, the Lutheran radio station at Concordia Theological Seminary, and began his seminary studies. WLAB's first broadcast was a remote from St. Paul’s Tre Ore service on Good Friday, 1987.

Rev. Henry’s ministry has included serving as Pastoral Assistant at Concordia Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran Church in Woodburn, IN. He also served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Elder, and most recently as Pastor of Care at Holy Cross, where he led the Stephen Ministry program and the Deacons.

In addition, Don served as Deacon and Vicar at St. Augustine Lutheran Church before being ordained in January 2020 as their Pastor. He now serves as a Pastoral Advisor to Vicar Fey Fey Moussou.

Rev. Henry and his wife Rebecca were married in 1981 in the chapel of Holy Cross. They have three children and three grandchildren. Their son lives in the West Lafayette area, one daughter resides in Indianapolis, and the other daughter lives in Columbus, IN.

As is our tradition at Holy Cross for retirement, a love offering will be collected for Pastor Henry as a token of appreciation. Please make checks payable to Donald Henry. Envelopes are available in the Welcome Center and Church Office.
