What are Faith Families?
Holy Cross Lutheran School is entering its 3rd year of Faith Families. Students, faculty and staff from church and school join together to form 33 multi-grade families. Families (students from each grade 1st - 8th with a staff or faculty member) meet monthly to participate in special chapels, Bible studies, service projects and special events. On Faith Family days, the first Wednesday of each month, the students wear their Faith Family T-shirts with uniform pants.
Each year Faith Families adopt 8 families in the community to provide Christmas. It is a semester long service project. During the month of September we collect non-perishable food, cleaning supplies and hygiene items. Through chapel offerings we are able to provide families with a $50 gift card to purchase perishable food for their Christmas dinner. Through mid-October to mid-November, students donate Christmas gifts for the families. Faith Families then join together to box food, wrap gifts and make cards. It is a great way to show and live our faith! This year we have a goal of raising $500. This will help provide gifts cards, needed items and a Christian witness. It is the goal each year to provide families with the true meaning of Christmas! It is an amazing blessing to our school and community!”
