Emily Johnson will serve as Interim Principal of Holy Cross Lutheran School for the 2019-2020 school year. Miss Johnson has been a fourth-grade teacher at Holy Cross since 2017. Prior to that, she served at Lutheran schools in Tennessee and North Carolina. She has taught a variety of subjects to students in grades kindergarten through eight, served as technology coordinator, and coached.
A product of the Lutheran educational "system," Miss Johnson attended St. John Lutheran School (Indianapolis, IN) and Indianapolis Lutheran High School. She holds degrees from Concordia University Ann Arbor (Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education) and Concordia University Portland (Master of Education in Educational Leadership). She has completed the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod's "School Leadership Development" program. She also is a trained Stephen Minister.
In accepting this new challenge, Miss Johnson writes: "I love Lutheran education and am committed to Lutheran schools! . . . I am very thankful for the journey on which God has led me. These experiences have helped me grow and learn as an educator and leader."
Pastor Ahlersmeyer observes that "Emily brings gifts that match up well with Holy Cross at this point in our history. Strongly rooted in the Lutheran parochial system, yet serving her entire career in 'mission-field schools,' she is particularly well-suited for Holy Cross' commitment to share the treasure of Lutheran education both with our members and the wider Fort Wayne community."
