Local Outreach

Comfort Dog Jared: Holy Cross has a Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Dog to compassionately minister to those hurting and to open doors for conversations about faith. Comfort Dogs bring compassion during times of tragedies & crisis, to people in the hospital & nursing homes and to veterans & active military in a variety of ways. View our webpage for more information or Facebook about Jared Comfort Dog .

Frances Slocum Neighborhood Association (FSNA):  This is a neighborhood within walking distance of Holy Cross and has been identified as a primary area of outreach.  A minimum of four activities take place there each year: the Great American Clean-up in the spring, a carnival in Klug Park in the summer, leaf raking in the fall, and Christmas caroling in December.

Friendship Ministries:  Adults with developmental disabilities meet Wednesday evenings, 7:00 p.m., at the Aulick Center, adjacent to the church. The evening includes singing, crafts, snacks and hearing about how much Jesus loves us.

God’s Warm Love:  This is a ministry where volunteers knit or crochet items of warmth such as mittens, scarves, afghans, and hats which are collected and distributed where needed whether it is in our community, our country, or around the world.

Rising Stars:  Holy Cross provides support and encouragement to the students, faculty and staff of Adams Elementary and Forest Park Elementary schools by providing school supplies, notes of appreciation to the faculty and staff, snacks for teachers during Parent/Teacher conferences, etc.

Urban Mission: Our Pastor Lewis A. King, leads an urban mission from his barber shop. Members of Holy Cross are invited to study the word, teach VBS and reach out to the inner-city with the good news of Jesus. For more information contact laking@holycrossfw.org.
