Workcamp

Who are we serving?

We are heading south this summer…about 2 miles!  This year we are going to our own backyard here in Fort Wayne’s south-east side.  We will be working with some great service organizations, including our own HC Vicar Lewis King’s Community Outreach, LAMB (ministry to Burmese), and more.  We don’t have to travel around the world to find poverty and need.  In the 46803 zip (just south of us) there are great number of “working poor” who struggle to pay the bills for needed ongoing utilities, medical bills, and other necessities.  We will be doing home improvements as well as community outreach, sharing the love and light of Christ.  We will be joining Promise Lutheran’s youth and actually staying @ Promise Ministries on Schwartz Rd in “The Barn” (showers – yeah, gym, camp setting, archery, bonfires, and more).  Learn to see Fort Wayne with fresh eyes as we explore the city in a whole new way.  You won’t regret it!

Who's going?

Over the past 8 years we have taken over 250 youth and young adults to various destinations across the country.  This year we can take a max of 20 people total (so get your deposits in ASAP). This trip is for anyone going into 8th grade - high school (9-12th) and parent/older sibling chaperones.

Cost?

Each participant will need to contribute $120 plus participate in fund raising efforts with the group to raise remaining monies (there are limited scholarships, please inquire).  Here is the payment/pre-meeting schedule (all meetings will be Sunday evenings @ 6 pm):

  1. May 21 – Non-Refundable Deposit: $50
  2. June 11 – Payment: $70

To reserve a spot, get your $50 deposit check and liability form in as soon as possible!

Please discuss this opportunity and see if it’s something God is calling you to.  I am available to talk (or pray) with anyone about this more.  Our resources of time, energy, and money are precious.  I would NOT do these trips if I did not believe they truly helped cultivate life-long missional commitment in our youth!  Let Chad Van Meter (739-6524) know what you decide.

What now?
