Lifehouse Food Pantry

Just recently, the Lifehouse Food Pantry (previously known as Forest Park Food Bank) has gotten to the point of needing more volunteers again. Please consider how you can help the Food Pantry n the following areas:

  1. Working the Pantry---Pantry is open to the public every Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Typically serves up to 40 "families" (3-4 people each) each time its open.  Volunteers are always needed to help operate the Pantry at these times. Typically involves helping families pick their needed food items from a menu-ordering system.  No heavy lifting involved, just helping people go through the Pantry and issuing food items indicated on their menu forms, etc. A lot of "feel good" people contact involved.

  2.  Supplying the Pantry---can be done in two different ways:

  • Volunteers to drive their personal vehicles to the Community Harvest Food Bank every Monday and/or Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. to help pick up the Pantry's food order there, transport it back to the Pantry, and help shelve it at the Pantry.  Involves sorting and lifting of medium weight items, loading supplies in and out of vehicles, breaking down cardboard boxes, etc.

  • Volunteers to pick up bread at the Kroger store at Maplecrest and St. Joe Center Roads every Sunday afternoon (time flexible) and transport it back to the Pantry to shelve it there. We have an immediate need for volunteers to help the Pantry with this task.
